The Data Locker is a USB 2.0 device and your USB port is not USB 2.0. You can still use the drive however you will not have USB 2.0 speeds.

11.Why does the unit power up but not work?
Make sure the correct prong on the USB cable is plugged in. Also, if you are plugging into a desktop, make sure you plug it into the USB port on the rear of the computer. Note: Not all USB ports (although most are) are powered sufficiently to run the Data Locker.
